About Indie Authors Canada
Empowering Authors, One Page at a Time
Founded in 2025, Indie Authors Canada is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Canadian independent authors navigate the complexities of running—and growing—a successful author business. We exist to support authors at every stage of their journey with practical education, meaningful connections, and accessible resources rooted in the realities of the Canadian publishing landscape.
The world of book publishing is complex, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. Indie Authors Canada supports independent authors through local meetups, networking events, an active community Discord, curated resources, workshops, and trusted product recommendations. Our goal is to remove barriers, share knowledge, and help authors build sustainable, professional careers on their own terms.
Indie Authors Canada was founded by the organizers of the Toronto Indie Author Conference (TIAC) to expand the reach of the conference’s mission beyond a single annual event. By forming a nonprofit, we’re able to grow a national network, broaden access to education and resources, and foster a stronger, more connected indie author community across Canada. Our community continues to grow, with our primary hub living on Discord—where authors connect, share insights, and support one another year-round.
Today, Indie Authors Canada hosts TIAC every April as a two-day, business-focused national conference attended by hundreds of authors. Throughout the year, we also run workshops, organize monthly Toronto-based author meetups featuring networking and writing sprints, and maintain a growing library of helpful resources, past presentations, and educational materials. We are an active, engaged community built by authors, for authors.
Together, we’re building a stronger future for independent publishing in Canada.
