TIAC 2027 / Volunteer

Help bring TIAC
to life.

Behind every conversation, session and welcome is a community of people making it happen. Volunteer with the Toronto Indie Author Conference and help independent authors learn, connect and build their publishing careers.

01 / Choose your contribution

Two ways to lend a hand.

IAC and TIAC are volunteer-run. Some people contribute throughout the year; others help the conference run smoothly on site. Choose the kind of involvement that fits your interests and availability.

Year-round involvement

Volunteer committee

Help plan and support the conference through community engagement, communications, grants, speaker coordination or sponsorship. Committee work is a chance to contribute your skills and get to know the people behind IAC and TIAC.

Typical commitment: 5-10 hours per month. Workload varies by role and can increase in the lead-up to the conference.

During the conference

Day-of volunteering

Past event-day roles have included welcoming attendees, helping at registration and supporting speakers and sessions. These are examples from past conferences; 2027 roles will be confirmed with the shift details.

2027 shifts and sign-up details: to be announced.

02 / Put your skills to work

There is more than one
way to contribute.

The committee interest form covers the areas below. Tell us what you enjoy and what experience you would bring. The team can discuss current needs and role availability with you.

Community

Connect authors.

Support community conversations, the newsletter and relevant community events.

Social media

Share the story.

Create content that helps independent authors discover TIAC and stay connected with the community.

Grants

Support the work.

Research funding opportunities and help prepare grant applications for the conference.

Speakers

Build relationships.

Help identify potential presenters and coordinate communication with speakers.

Sponsors

Bring partners together.

Help identify potential sponsors and support relationships with conference partners.

Your contribution

Not sure where you fit?

If your skills or availability do not match one of these areas, start a conversation with IAC.

03 / Start a conversation

Interested in committee work?

The committee interest form asks about your preferred roles, motivation, relevant experience and availability. Clear communication, organization and an interest in the independent author community are useful starting points.

A note before you apply

The linked form still asks for interview dates in June 2026 and contains older event details. For current interview dates, role availability or help completing that question, contact IAC.

TIAC 2027 takes place April 16-18, 2027 at YWCA Toronto. The dates and venue on this page are the current conference details.

The interest form opens on Google Forms in a new tab. It is for committee volunteering; it is not an event-day shift booking.

04 / Before you get involved

A few practical questions.

Do I need to be a published author?

The interest form does not list a published book as a requirement. It asks about your skills, experience and interest in the indie author community. If you are unsure whether a role is a fit, contact IAC before applying.

Can I help just during the conference?

Event-day volunteering is a separate route from the year-round committee. The 2027 shifts and sign-up details are still to be announced. Contact IAC to ask about helping on site.

What happens after I express interest?

Committee recruitment has included a conversation about your experience, availability and the role, followed by an agreement and onboarding for selected volunteers. Contact IAC for the current process and timing. Expressing interest does not reserve a role or a shift.

What should I know about conference admission?

Conference entry is listed as a benefit on the committee interest form. Arrangements can vary by role, so confirm yours with the team. Event-day volunteering and buying a conference ticket are separate processes.

Help make the next
chapter possible.

Your time and experience can help create a welcoming space for independent authors. Thank you for considering a role in the community behind TIAC.
