The conference

What is the Toronto Indie Author Conference?

The Toronto Indie Author Conference (TIAC) is an annual gathering for independent authors and publishing professionals. It combines practical learning about the business of books with opportunities to meet other authors, share experience and build connections. Read more about TIAC.

When and where is TIAC 2027?

The conference takes place April 16-18, 2027 at YWCA Toronto, 87 Elm Street, Toronto. Visit the location page for directions and transit information.

Who is the conference for?

TIAC is for independent authors at every stage, from people preparing their first book to authors building an established catalogue. Its focus is practical learning, publishing as a business and connecting with peers.

What is Indie Authors Canada?

Indie Authors Canada (IAC) is the Ontario not-for-profit behind TIAC. It supports Canadian independent authors through the conference, year-round learning and community connections. TIAC is the annual event; IAC is the organization supporting authors between conferences too.

How does the conference work?

TIAC 2027 runs from April 16 to 18. Friday is an introductory workshop day for authors getting started in independent publishing. Saturday and Sunday are the main conference, with talks, workshops and discussions focused on the business of being an author.

Use the 2027 schedule to plan your sessions once the program is announced. Friday is booked separately from the weekend pass; the ticket options explain what each ticket includes.

What kinds of talks and sessions can I expect?

The focus is practical independent publishing: getting a book ready for readers, working with publishing professionals, marketing and promotion, selling and distributing books, and building a sustainable author career. Talks share experience and ideas; smaller workshops and discussions offer opportunities to explore a topic in more depth.

Confirmed 2027 session titles, descriptions and formats will appear on the schedule page. The past-edition schedules show the kinds of topics TIAC has covered.
